I am not vegan so I thought the chicken and bacon bits were bland but neither are bad. The vegan sauces were impressive and the food does come with plenty of it. I loved the bbq jackfruit on the loaded tots but that does cost extra. I do think the price is expensive. For a simple sandwich to be priced that high I could at least get some fries. The seating areas are clean and the employees were helpful.

Holy smokes, my mom and I stopped in. We are both meat eaters, but enjoy trying vegetarian/vegan foods. No clue if this place is vegan or vegetarian, but if I could cook like this, my plant based meal consumption would go up considerably. We got a Reuben and Monte Cristo. The Rueben was probably one of the best my mom or I have had. Fantastic toasted bread and the "meat" and dressing were crazy flavorful. If given the option, this would be my go-to Reuben. The monte cristo (which I never get because I don't really eat pork and hate ham) was crispy and flavorful. No clue how it compares to a regular one, but it was delicious. When I am back in KC, this place will be on my "gotta get" list.

Since my husband is a vegetarian, we figured this would be a great option - and it turns out we were right! The inside of the restaurant is small, but decked out for cozyness - lots of pillows and bench seating. It turns out this place started out as a food truck. The process of ordering is pretty similar - you order at the counter, and then they let you know when your food is ready. The staff were all very sweet. I had the fish tacos, which were delicious, and they didn't have an overly fishy taste, which was a plus for me. I do think they need to work a bit on their tortilla chips - they seemed store-bought and kind of lacked flavor, compared to other restaurant chips. Overall, I was satisfied with Tree Huggers, and we'll probably come back if we're in the area.

Tried out Tree Hugger for the first time with the family this summer. I ordered the Ultimate Nachos with Chili Walnut Chorizo (the other option is BBQ Jackfruit). I also treated myself to the dollop of guacamole for $2, making these nachos cost a grand total of $19. The nachos were good but I probably will not order them again given that price. I usually don't leave food behind but these had that bottom layer gooey chip situation that wasn't worth finishing. But overall love a vegan spot and now that I'm in the area I'll have to stop by more often to try some of the other options.

When looking for food I wanted to be intentional about finding a local vegetarian friendly place to eat before leaving KC. Boy did I find the right spot! It had a great vibe. Fun, light, and really great service. Everyone was so kind and the food was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately I was so hungry the phone didn't eat before me but when I got the Reuben fries and Buffalo Mac wrap, I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. 11/10 would recommend making this a stop! No critical thoughts here.

So welcoming from the moment we stepped in. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by their friendly employees and all of the live plants. My bf is vegan and was in search for a BBQ sandwich and their jackfruit version will stay rent free in my head. Their mac and cheez was perfectly done and I wish we had gotten more. I got their phish tacos and they were also good. They did miss on the chips and salsa, but otherwise would absolutely make it here again the next time I am in KC.

Deliciously fried monte cristo sandwich. Super tasty barbecue sandwich too. The tots were okay but in big portions which is good for $6. Super friendly employee. Lovely peanut butter tart dessert and soft dense pumpkin brownie in a little muffin shape.

My family stopped in for Mother's Day and enjoyed an all vegan lunch. I was so happy to see a lunch rush here, which means others are loving this place to. Tree Hugger offers a 100% vegan menu with a lot of diverse options - burgers, wraps, tacos, etc. Kansas City doesn't have many all vegan restaurants, so Tree Hugger fills an important niche. While I'm not a vegan myself, I enjoyed the bowl of vegan chili. My mom was a fan of the "fish" tacos, and has ordered them several times. I also tried some of the nachos - my only critique here would be a recommendation to get some higher quality tortilla chips, rather than the American style golden rounds. They've done a great job making the place feel homey and welcoming, with ample seating, board, games, and lots of greenery. I only wish it was closer to home! We need something like this in Olathe!

The Tree Hugger is a little gem. You ever go to a vegetarian restaurant, look at the menu only to be met by unfamiliar ingredients and pretentious titles, perhaps something called The Earth is Awesome and So Am I, maybe consisting of chia emulsion, purple amaranth, and cassava braised in the happy tears of Aztec children, and then charged $27 for the privilege of eating healthy and leaving hungry, and, sure, it tasted good but you're, like, dang, can somebody bring me a vegan sammy and tots?! Well, guess what, Tree Hugger is here for you! On our visit, the first of many, we tried the Rueben (jackfruit),Fish Tacos (heart of palm), and Taco Salad (walnut chorizo) and they were all exceptional. As were the tots, of course. It was hard to decide on those three, so many items looked tantalizing. The seating area is brightly lit and comfortable with local art on the walls and a super friendly staff that, for me, was the quintessence of happy dining. I highly recommend.

Was excited to try this place. First, the positive my sandwich was very tasty! But here's the butt for a sandwich to be over $12 I should be full and this sandwich just left me wanting another one. I felt like there was no separation of ingredients, I've made this dish myself and I usually dye the jack fruit in a beet, tamarin, veg broth marinade, So as to give the color of corn beef and the flavor. Also jackfruit need to be hot and Sourkraut cold so as to give off the different temperatures and contrasts. Any who tasty but needed to be at least twice the size
